Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Tours
in Europe and Beyond

Rental motorcycles - this page sets out what you need to know.

Motorcycle Rental & visitors from overseas.

For our European tours, you will either use your own bike, or you need to rent a motorcycle.  You need to make the arrangements for this yourself (we can help if needed).   We work closely with a number of Harley-Davidson dealerships who our customers have rented from before.

See below for the Harley-Davidson dealerships we recommend.

Please remember whenever renting a motorcycle, always ask what screen / saddlebags / tour pack / rack will be fitted to the bike as different dealerships fit different equipment to their rental bikes.

Recommended Harley-Davidson dealers:

For tours starting in the UK:

There are limited Harley-Davidson dealerships in the UK that provide a motorcycle rental service.

Maidstone Harley-Davidson.  Their website is Maidstone Harley-Davidson. Telephone +44 1622 711680  Ask for Gideon Wilkins.  Email gwilkins@mshd.co.uk

Other dealerships may provide rentals.

For tours starting in Munich, Germany:

We recommend renting from House of Flames, Munich East. They are located close to the city centre. Their website is House of Flames  Telephone +49 899 292 800.  Address is 20 Zamdorfer Street, 81677 Munich, Germany.  Ask for Scott Sears – he speaks perfect English!  scott.sears@house-of-flames.com

For tours starting in Geneva, Switzerland:

We recommend renting from Moto-Plaisir, Ville-la-Grand, France.  Their location is a short taxi ride from the centre of Geneva. Their website is Moto-Plaisir. Telephone +33 4 80 16 11 58 Contact contact@moto-plaisir.fr

***Please note: Tour1 customers wanting to rent a motorcycle for a European tour need to book with the dealership direct themselves, as the rental has to be in the riders own name.  We are not able to do that booking for you.

More information:

Renting a Harley-Davidson for one of our European tours is easy – just contact one of the dealerships listed to the left and they will help in whatever way they can.

For all of our European tours, all roads are ridden on the right hand side.  For tours starting in the UK, getting to the tour start point means riding on the left side of the road, but don’t worry, if you haven’t done that before, we can meet you on the day before the tour starts and we will escort you down to Folkestone where our tours start in the UK.

Please note that for all of countries our tours to go, wearing of a motorcycle helmet is a legal requirement

All of the rooms we book on the tour are doubles, so bringing a pillion is no problem at all.

If you are joining a tour that starts in the UK and have time, you can spend a few days beforehand, or afterwards, seeing London and enjoying one of the most vibrant cities in the world!  We can give advice about some of the great things you can do while in London.

Riding in mainland Europe is easy, especially as for most visitors you are likely to already to used to riding on the right hand side of the road.  Sure, signs are different as are some of the laws, but as all of our tours are fully guided, by a very experienced ride leader, you will soon get used to the small differences.  Gary France of Tour1, has written a guide to riding a motorcycle touring in Europe and you may find this useful.

Each rental business normally has a slightly different set of insurance coverage options and rental conditions. Please make sure these are appropriate for you at the time of arranging the rental.

Please note: If you are joining one of our one-way tours, please bear in mind that the motorcycle rental period needs to include for the time taken for the motorcycle to be returned to the UK by truck and that is normally about 3 or 4 days (check with us for the specific tour you wish to ride).  There is also an additional charge for motorcycle shipping insurance of approximately £4 per £1,000 of motorcycle value for the one-way tours.  This is payable separately.
